Consent, safety & confidentiality
Informed consent and screening
Before therapy begins you will complete a Client Intake & Consent Form, which includes medical and mental health screening, contraindications, emergency contact details and consent. I send it to you once you have agreed to proceed, and it must be returned, with payment, before your first session. My services are for adults aged 18 and over.
Confidentiality
Everything you tell me is private, including the fact that you are a client. I will only share information with your consent, or where there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk, I am required by law, or in a medical emergency. I always try to speak to you first where it is safe to do so. I discuss my work with a clinical supervisor without identifying clients.
Privacy
Read the full Privacy Notice or the full Confidentiality Notice.
I am the data controller and handle your information under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Health information is treated with extra care, sessions are not recorded, and I never sell your data. You can ask to see, correct or erase your records at any time (subject to record-keeping duties) and can complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113).
Please do not send detailed medical information through ordinary email or text. Use email or text to arrange appointments only, and leave just your name and number on voicemail.
If you need urgent help
Call 999 in an emergency, or Samaritans free on 116 123 at any time.
